Simple steps to terminate a rental agreement

The number one piece of knowledge for the terminator of the agreement is that the agreement can be terminated unilaterally with three months' notice (§ 312 (1) of the Law of Obligations Act) or at any time by the mutual agreement of the parties. Both parties can initiate the termination of the rental through the Rendin application from the view of their agreement, or by contacting our customer support.

A necessary part of the termination of the agreement: the handover act

If Rendin and the other party have already been notified of the wish to terminate the rental agreement, then the landlord and the tenant must meet at the agreed time in the rental premises to review its condition together. The deed of handover enables the confirmation that the condition of the living space is equivalent to what it was at the time of moving in. We have a convenient feature for creating the handover act on the Rendin platform.

If either party has a complaint about the condition or towards the other party, they should contact Rendin as soon as possible and describe the nature of the problem. The differences noted in the deed concern only the rental home and the items related to it.

Reminder for users of Rendin

  • Sometimes landlords have a habit of not formalizing the termination of rental, and only after several months is it revealed that the rental actually ended a long time ago. The termination of the agreement should take place in a timely manner.

  • If the agreement expired by a set date, you should also press the end button in the Rendin application. It is common that the last utility bill is not yet paid by the tenant when the rental agreement ends.

  • Termination of the contract does not give the tenant permission or the right not to pay the rental or utility payments, which they still are obliged to pay for the rental period.
